Client’s Challenge: In May of 2015 a large Health Plan approached PSN with an immediate and critical need to fill 200 utilization review nurse temporary positions throughout the U.S. The client had secured a contract that required that these utilization nurses be fully operational within a three month time frame, and desired that as many as possible start in June. The nurse positions that the client needed were very specific with a specific skill set. The client desired nurses who were to have at least three years’ experience in a healthcare environment, extensive managed care experience, and direct use of the InterQual utilization criteria. This would be a challenge for any staffing organization, especially one that was not experienced with understanding the clinical background that was required by this client.
PSN’s Achievement: PSN executed their unique nurse recruiting staff to identify, screen, and recruit competent clinical nurses to fulfill the client’s needs. The initial utilization nurse were hired within weeks and PSN continued to complete the requested number of candidates. The client was so agreeable with the nurse candidates submitted that they accepted and hired nearly 90% of the nurses submitted. It is important to note, that there were other organizations this client worked with to fulfill these positions. However PSN clearly dominated the ability to meet the needs of this client and select candidates that were hired for these temporary positions. Ultimately, a significant number of these nurses were offered full time positions with the company, allowing the client company the ability to have qualified staff that they could orient and train over a “trial” period and select the best candidate for their permanent positions. This demonstrates a significant benefit to an organization that is in need of managing a quick turnaround and still fulfilling their long term staffing needs.
